What Customers With Stroud's Gift Cards Can Do

Many people were literally left out in the cold when they pulled up to the Stroud's fried chicken location at Village Point over the weekend. The restaurant closed up shop and moved out of town with no warning, leaving customers with gift cards they can no longer use.

The company says customers can still use the gift cards at their Kansas City locations, but Jim Hegarty with the Better Business Bureau says there are other options if you don't want to travel that far. "They have indicated to us that they intend to refund all gift cards that were sold in advance of the closing. So we're hopeful that that'll occur."

Hegarty says if customers don't want to go through Stroud's parent company, KC Hopps, they can take matters into their own hands if they paid for gift cards with a credit card. "People can dispute the charge obviously with their credit card company, so that's another avenue that they can take."

The important thing Hegarty says customers can do if they aren't getting the response they'd like from Stroud's, is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. "They can contact our BBB and we'll help them process a complaint and make sure those are forwarded to the appropriate folks down in KC."

You can still contact Stroud's through their website here.
