Parks And Recreation Looking For Summer Employees

It may be frigid outside, but that isn't stopping the Omaha Department of Parks and Recreation from looking for people to work outdoors this summer.

Director Brook Bench says two interview sessions will be held Thursday for jobs available throughout Omaha's many parks, pools and camps. "We're looking for all different kinds of part-time positions that we have across the city. Whether it's golf maintenance, park maintenance, lifeguards, we just have lots of different opportunities."

Bench says they have to start interviewing now because they hire hundreds of people. "We like to start early and have people so they have their paperwork done. If they're in our system, and if we hire them, they're ready to go right when we need them."

The interview sessions, will give people looking for employment an opportunity to see what the city has to offer. "They'll just come in and they'll learn about the different positions and hopefully kind of pinpoint what they'd like to do. Then we'll have them talk to the right staff, in the right area, and then we'll start the process from there."

The two interview sessions will be held on Thursday, January 4th. The first session is at the Florence Community Center from 9 AM-Noon and at the Christie Heights Community Center from 2 PM-5 PM.
