If you're looking for a second chance to make a New Year’s resolution, you'll be able to ring in the New Year on Saturday evening.
Organizers of the 18th annual Holiday Lights Festival had to postpone the annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular due to severe cold weather. The final signature event of the Festival will now take place this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Gene Leahy Mall at 14th and Farnam.
Mayor Jean Stothert will join several others in a brief ceremony before the countdown begins to the ten-minute firework production. Following the fireworks, spectators can also enjoy the last night of viewing the thousands of white lights illuminated in the trees surrounding the Leahy Mall.
The show typically draws more than 30,000 people to downtown Omaha. Those needing or requesting accommodations can view the fireworks from the fourth floor of the W. Dale Clark Library at 215 S. 15th Street.
