No Bond For Man Accused In Triple Murder

An Omaha man accused of killing his parents and 18 year old niece the day after Christmas was denied bond by a judge Tuesday afternoon.

John Dalton Jr. is charged with first degree murder in the shooting deaths of 70 year old John W. Dalton Sr., 65 year old Jean Dalton and 18-year-old Leona Dalton-Phillip.

The shootings happened in Dalton’s parents home near 37th and Spaulding Streets. John Dalton Jr. was arrested in Tennessee the day after the shooting deaths and returned to Omaha late last week.

He was also convicted of killing his wife, Shannon, in 1998 and served 11 years in prison for her death.

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine says the state could seek the death penalty in this case, but that has not yet been determined.

Dalton's preliminary hearing is set for January 31st.
