Omaha Police Release Results Of Drunk Driving Campaign

The Omaha Police Department has released results of the recently concluded “You Drink You Drive You Lose” campaign, which took place from December 15, 2017 through January 1, 2018. 

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety awarded a nearly $23,000 grant to fund extra Omaha Police officers on the streets to detect and apprehend alcohol and drug impaired drivers.

There were 12 operations conducted at various dates and times throughout the entire city to ensure the citizens were safe on the streets during the Holiday season. 

The results of the operations were:

  • 35 Total Arrests for Driving Under the Influence 
    • 26 Charges for First Offense DUI 
    • 9 Charges for Second Offense DUI 
    • 7  Charges for Refusing a Breath Test 
  • 22 Arrests for Operating During Suspension 
  • 7 Arrests for Careless/Reckless Driving 
  • 10 Arrests for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Equipment 
  • 2 Arrests for Possession of a Controlled Substance 
  • 490 Total Citations Issued 
    • 129 for Speeding
