Police Identify Victims In Triple Homicide

Omaha Police have identified the three people killed in a Tuesday night shooting.

Authorities say 70 year old John W. Dalton, 65 year old Jean Dalton and 18 year old Leonna Dalton-Phillip died after being shot in a home near 37th and Spaulding.

Police say 46 year old John W. Dalton Jr. is being sought as a person of interest in the shooting deaths of his parents and niece.

Officers were called to a home around 8:00 after reports of multiple gunshots. Inside a house they found the three victims dead.

Dalton served just over eleven years for the shooting death of his wife Shannon Dalton, who was killed in September 1998. Dalton faced Second Degree Murder in that case, but pleaded guilty to Manslaughter.

Dalton's three children were placed in the care of his mother Jean after Shannon's death and John's incarceration. Jean was one of the victims killed in Tuesday's shooting. Dalton was eventually released from prison in 2010.

A felony warrant for First Degree Murder has been issued for John Dalton Jr.

Police say Dalton should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact the OPD Homicide Unit at 444-5656 or if you’d like to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP.

Dalton may be driving a Black 2015 GMC Terrain with Nebraska license plate UKB787 or a Red 2007 Chevy Tahoe with Nebraska plate VRD559.
