Metro Teacher, Wife Arrested In Child Abuse Case

Papillion Police have arrested a Millard School teacher and his wife in connection with an investigation of alleged child abuse. 61 year old Alan Koebel has been put on administrative leave from his job as a teacher at Beadle Middle School.

Koebel and 56 year old Theresa Garland Koebel were booked late Friday night on charges that include Intentional Child Abuse/No Injury. Alan Koebel is also accused of three misdemeanors.

In the course of the investigation, Papillion Police say seven children, ages 13 to 18, were removed from the house. The circumstances of the case remain under investigation.

Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov tells 6 News his office has been briefed by law enforcement about the case and is taking it very seriously.

According to a Millard Public Schools spokesperson, Alan Koebel worked as a science teacher at Beadle. This case is not connected with the school. 

in a statement the district says "recently Millard received a courtesy call informing us of an investigation in another jurisdiction of a staff member concerning allegations outside and separate of school. Student safety is our number one concern, and we immediately removed the staff member from school and placed him on administrative leave."

Millard officials say Koebel has been employed by the district for 24 years.
