There's good news for those who have been dreaming of a white Christmas. The National Weather Service says the first accumulating snow of the season could arrive late Saturday night.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday. An upper level disturbance is expected to produce a band of accumulating snow over the area starting Saturday evening and ending around sunrise on Christmas Eve. Snowfall totals could be in the 1-3 inch range.
Winds are expected to be mainly under 15 mph, which will limit blowing and drifting.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
