Omaha Police have arrested a 21 year old man who they say tried to lure a girl into his vehicle on December 6.  That report led to an investigation involving more girls.

It all began at Belvedere Elementary School near 37th and Curtis Avenue when they spoke with a 13-year-old female.

She said she was walking home from McMillan Middle School near 39th and Vernon Street when a man approached her in a car and said, “You need a ride, get in the car!”

The girl told the suspect “no” and started walking faster.  Police say the suspect continued to follow and yell at the victim to get into the car.  She became scared and ran toward Belvedere Elementary School, where she reported the incident.

Members of the Child Victim / Sexual Assault Squad spoke with the victim who described the suspect as a white man in his 20’s, with no shirt.  The victim described the suspect vehicle as a greenish/blue four-door sedan.  The following week, there were other incidents reported by female students from McMillan Middle School.

A detective in an unmarked vehicle noted a vehicle matching the description provided by the victim circling the area.  A patrol car was requested, but was not able to get to the area in time to stop the vehicle.

Detectives conducted a follow up investigation on the license plate and learned the vehicle belonged to 21 year old Tyler Zigler.  The Douglas County Attorney’s Office was consulted and an arrest warrant was issued for Enticing a Child.   Officers on special patrol found the vehicle Wednesday afternoon near 38th and Redick Avenue.  They arrested Zigler for Enticing A Child, which is a felony.
