A 31-year-old Omaha man has died nearly a week after he was struck by a car. Police say Justin Swanson died in the hospital from injuries suffered early last Thursday morning near 68th and Pacific.
According to Police a 2002 Honda Accord driven by 27-year-old Esteban Conforte struck Swanson while he was attempting to cross Pacific Street from north to south.
Police say Swanson was attempting to cross mid-block with no designated crosswalk. The Honda fled the scene after striking Swanson. Conforte later turned himself into police himself in to face charges.
Swanson suffered a broken arm and leg and a closed head injury. Police say alcohol use by both men was a contributing factor to the accident.
An autopsy of Swanson will be conducted Thursday. The Douglas County attorney will decide whether to upgrade charges.
