An Omaha family was forced to flee their home early Monday morning after a fire broke out.
Firefighters encountered smoke and flames coming from the house just before 2:00 a.m. near 28th and Titus. Fire crews rescued a male victim from the attic area of the home. He was taken to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition.
The Red Cross is now assisting the five adults and a child who were forced out of their home. Damage is estimated at $30-thousand and the cause remains under investigation.
