Cement Truck Driver Charged In Deadly La Vista Crash

Charges have been filed against the driver of a cement truck that tipped over and killed two men near 120th and Giles in La Vista last October.

20 year old Austin Holloway of Fremont was charged with felony motor vehicle homicide on Friday afternoon in Sarpy County. His bond was set at $50,000.

Authorities say Holloway was driving the fully loaded truck eastbound on Giles and was attempting to make a right turn to head south when it tipped over on top of the car that was stopped and waiting to make a turn.

The car was crushed and Michael Dearden and Phillip Hertel, both 23, were killed instantly.  The men were on lunch break from their painting job at the time of the crash.
