An Omaha man is recovering after being hit by a car near 68th and Pacific early Thursday morning.
Omaha Police say a Honda Accord was westbound on Pacific in the curb lane when it struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Pacific from north to south. The pedestrian, 31 year old Justin Swanson, was attempting to cross mid-block, with no crosswalk. The driver of the Honda, 27 year old Esteban Conforte, fled the scene after hitting Swanson, but later turned himself in to police.
Swanson was transported to Bergan Mercy for treatment of a broken arm, broken leg and a closed head injury. His injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time.
Alcohol use by both Swanson and Conforte is considered a factor. Conforte was booked for DUI Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident.
