All Clear Given After Lock Down At Ralston High School

There were tense moments at Ralston High School Wednesday afternoon after someone inside the school called 9-1-1 to report of a gunman in the school.

Around 12:20 officers from Ralston and Omaha descended on the school after someone reported that a man with a gun was walking through the halls. The school was promptly put on lock down.

Many students fled from the building while many others took shelter in classrooms until the all clear was given.

"I was sitting in the English room and all I saw was the police walking down the halls and yelling at kids to get into classrooms," says freshman Cameron Bartlett.   "Since we couldn't lock the door we flipped the table and hit there."

Ralston Police Chief Marc Leonardo says after searching the building, they determined that the threat was false and that someone inside the school phoned in the bogus threat.  "While we were searching the building we had officers down in the office with the administration," Leonardo says.  "Also, the person who made the phone call was located at it was determined that it was a false threat."

Many parents rushed to the school to take their children home.  Other students stayed and classes resumed just after 1:00

The incident is still under investigation.
