Last June Sarpy County was hammered by severe storms that included two tornadoes in Bellevue.
The storms also left their mark on the Soaring Wings Vineyard near Springfield. Packing winds of nearly 120 miles per hour, the storm caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to the buildings, stage and vineyard.
"Our building almost went down," owner Jim Shaw says. "Our stage was destroyed and we had pieces of wood that went all the way through some of our steel structure."
Shaw says the new stage was designed to work with the floor of the old stage and wrap around it to minimize costs. Shaw says the new design will improve upon the aesthetics of the old stage in many ways.
“We missed having our stage available for the prime summer season this past year, but look forward to having an improved stage for the coming years," Shaw says
The ground breaking ceremony with Sarpy County Chamber officials and local area officials will be Monday at 4 PM.
