Omaha Police say three people were killed in a head-on crash early Sunday morning. It happened just before 1:00 a.m. on southbound I-480 at the split with JFK southbound and I-80 eastbound.
Investigators say a 2014 Chevy Cruze was going northbound in the southbound lanes of JFK. A 2000 Chevy Impala was going southbound from I-480. The vehicles collided nearly head-on. Paramedics arrived and found two men in the Impala and the unrestrained driver of the Cruze dead at the scene.
the Omaha Police Traffic Unit is working to identify all three victims. Autopsies for all three are scheduled for today.
The Nebraska State Patrol and State Department of Roads were on scene to assist with the road closure. All southbound I-480 traffic was diverted to westbound I-80 until 5:45 a.m.
