Santa Claus made a stop in Omaha Thursday morning, dropping in on young patients at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Santa gave his reindeer a rest as he arrived by helicopter around 10:30.
He was then escorted inside by several U-S Marines and immediately began putting smiles on the faces of youngsters and their families.
The United States Marines is carrying on their long time tradition of helping Santa distribute toys through the Toys for Tots program. They went room to room handing out toys to kids who will spend Christmas in the hospital.
"I hope it makes them forget what their going through," says Marine Staff Sergeant Jose Ledesma. "Seeing that smile on the child's face, you can't replace that with nothing."
The Marines are hoping to exceed last year's goal when they supported more than 15-thousand kids.
