The Open Door Mission relies on donations to help meet the needs of the less fortunate. CEO Candace Gregory says thieves have made that process more difficult.
Gregory tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB their Elkhorn donation center has been targeted by a Grinch. Someone has been tearing off the shrink wrap and going through the boxes of donated items.
She says they are not covering them back up and those items get exposed to the elements and are ruined. She says those actions hurts others who rely on the boxes of donated items. Gregory wants the thefts to stop so they can stop worrying about protecting their donations and can concentrate on helping the needy.
Police have surveillance footage of two men and a woman taking donations earlier this week. Gregory tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB there is no need to stealing items the Open Door Mission. "If you are in need just walk through out door, we would gladly serve you for free. You don't have to steal from us."
