Two people are behind bars after leading Council Bluffs Police on a wild ride early Wednesday morning.
Council Bluffs Police say just before 1:00, officers attempted to stop a stolen Dodge pickup truck near 16th St and 9th Ave. The truck failed to stop and fled south on 16th St. towards 16th Ave. before heading east on Harry Langdon Blvd. Stop sticks were deployed, and the truck hit at least one set of sticks, causing one of the front tires to deflate.
Authorities say the truck, driving on rims, then took Harry Langdon south towards Highway 92, but became disabled in the intersection. The driver, 31 year old Adam Wilfong, got out of the truck and was tazed after repeatedly failing to comply with officers' orders.
Once in custody, officers discovered an open pocketknife on the ground that Wilfong previously had in his hand while he was engaging with officers. Wilfong was taken to the hospital to be examined and then taken to Pottawattamie County Jail.
The passenger, 27 year old Kimberly Golden, was arrested for Disobedience to a Police Officer after also failing to comply with officers during the incident.
The truck used in the incident was reported stolen out of Omaha on November 9th. Wilfong now faces a number of charges including Second Degree Theft, Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Disobedience to Police Officer, Reckless Driving and No Driver’s License.
