250 Pounds Of Pot Found During Two Traffic Stops

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says three men have been arrested after two separate traffic stops led to the discovery of over 250 pounds of marijuana in the last four days.

On Saturday a sheriff’s deputy stopped a Cadillac Escalade for speeding.  During the stop, the deputy became suspicious of illegal activity.  After a K9 searched the vehicle, three duffel bags which contained 52 heat sealed bags of marijuana was found. The heat sealed bags and interior portion of the duffel bags were covered in a brown dust, believed to be coffee grounds.

The weight of the marijuana totaled over 110 lbs.  33 year-old Vicente Leon-Ramirez of California and his passenger, 23-year-old Lozano Morales-Belizario, of Mexico were both arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.

On Wednesday, a sheriff’s deputy stopped 2017 Cadillac for driving erratically on EB I-80 near the I-680 split. The deputy spotted a large duffel bag in the back seat.  When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, investigators say 24-year-old Emiliano Sandoval of Washington admitted there was.

Three duffel bags and a backpack containing 141 pounds of marijuana and $5,900 in cash was found in the search.   Sandoval was arrested and booked for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
