Omaha Police say a man was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in a construction zone on eastbound I-80 near 16th Street.
Sergeant Jason Menning says according to witnesses the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser lost control around 2:30 and slid sideways into a parked semi that was unloading rebar in the construction zone.
The semi driver was out of the truck at the time and was not injured. Menning says they are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
The accident forced police to close eastbound I-80 and the I-480 split. traffic was diverted onto southbound JFK and northbound I-480.
Menning is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Omaha Police Traffic Department at 444-5626.
