An Omaha teen has died from injuries he sustained in a Saturday morning crash near 31st and Marcy.
Seventeen year old Luis Alberto Castillo Cabrera sustained a head injury when the Ford Mustang he was riding in hit a parked car, then struck a light pole. At the time of the crash Omaha Police said the teen had suffered a life-threatening head injury, an injury that would kill him days later.
The driver of the Mustang, 22 year old Alberto Antonio Castro Sanabria, was arrested on Sunday for DUI- Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Reckless Driving. Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine has now upped the DUI charge to Motor Vehicle Homicide-Driving Under the Influence.
The Ford Mustang, driven by Castro Sanabria, crashed into a parked F-250 pickup truck near 31st and Marcy just before 2:30.
The impact of the crash forced the truck into a parked Audi and sent the Mustang into a light pole. Castro Sanabria was found lying outside the driver's side door of the car. Castillo Cabrera had to be extricated from the car. Both were taken to Nebraska Medicine for treatment.
Castro Sanabria is expected to go before a judge on Wednesday.
