Warm Weather Delays Opening Of UNMC Ice Rink

The unseasonably warm late November weather isn't good news for those who like to ice skate.  Over the weekend the University of Nebraska Medical Center delayed the opening of its public ice skating rink because the weather has been too warm.

Rink manager Mike Madison says if temperatures are below 50 degrees on Wednesday, Nov. 29, it will be open.  "Temperatures above 50 degrees make the ice wet and unsafe," Madison says.

The rink is just east of 42nd Street, between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue.  It will be open Monday and Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Admission is $7 and includes skates. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted.
