A Thanksgiving day fire heavily damaged a midtown duplex and left a family of seven without a place to live.
It broke out around noon near 38th and Dodge. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Firefighters had a difficult time fighting the smoky blaze, attacking it from inside and out.
They cut holes through the roof to ventilate the smoke. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents of the duplex.
