Power Outage Delays Thanksgiving Cooking

A power outage in the metro area has left many Thanksgiving chefs frustrated.  OPPD crews discovered that a large bird flew into a substation causing some damage and a power outage on two circuits at 9:45 a.m.

This is impacting 1,793 Sarpy County customers and 937 in Douglas County and includes the Ralston and LaVista areas. The boundaries are from 64th to 84th streets and Cornhusker to Edgewood and Burlington Road.

Substation crews have been called in to make repairs, and OPPD expects the work to be done by noon. Some Thanksgiving meals may be a bit delayed, but thankfully, the sunshine and nice weather forecast can offset that.
