First Signs Installed For New Median Restriction Ordinance

Omaha City crews on Tuesday installed the first sign at 72nd and Dodge as part of the new ordinance that prohibits standing on the median at busy intersections.

It is the first marked intersection since Mayor Stothert proposed and the City Council approved the ordinance on October 24.

Omaha Police officers who witness a violation of the ordinance will ask the person to move off the median.  Further actions will only be taken if the person refuses to move.

Signs will be posted at other intersections based on public complaints and the specific requirements of the ordinance.   Complaints can be made to the Mayor’s Hotline 402-444-5555.
