Three Arrested In West Omaha After Fremont Robbery

Three men believed to be linked to a Fremont bank robbery late Wednesday morning were led away in handcuffs from the Village Pointe Shopping Center near 168th and West Dodge this morning after a police pursuit.

Two of the men were arrested after running inside the Best Buy store near 168th and west Dodge.  The third man was taken into custody in a ravine on the north side of the shopping center.

The robbery of the First State Bank happened around 10:45 a.m. and the men sped away in a white SUV that was followed to Omaha by Fremont police and eventually the Nebraska State Patrol.

The driver stopped the vehicle on the north side of West Dodge.  The trio then ran across Dodge to the shopping center.

A man setting up a display inside Best Buy told NewsRadio 1110 KFAB it was quite a scene. "A couple of officers ran by me with rifles and then we heard everybody get down and I can see they were running toward the bathroom."

Moments later the man said the suspects were brought out in handcuffs.  During the search inside the store, employees were evacuated from the building.

Police have identified the suspects as 44 year old Warren Vasser of Council Bluffs,  27 year old Warren Copeland of Omaha and 25 year old Angelo Douglas of Omaha. All three men face charges of robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of stolen property, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
