Taste Of Omaha Kicks Of Summer Festival Season

It may not technically be summer yet, but the unofficial kickoff to the summer festival season in the metro starts on Friday with Taste of Omaha.

Organizer Mike Mancuso tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that there are some newcomers to the Taste this year, but some familiar names as well. "We have a little taste of Caribbean that's very unusual. We have some Thai food that's very different, a little octopus, but all of the traditional fare that people have come to love."

In its 21st year, Mancuso says the recipe for success is quite simple. "The recipe is great entertainment, great food and a beautiful setting overlooking the river. It's just the best time for the family, very affordable fun for everybody."

Mancuso says being able to showcase what Omaha has to offer keeps people coming back year after year. "Giving them a real feel for what the river can offer, as well as what restaurants and foods we have that are the best around the country. We have over 40 restaurants, probably more than we've had ever, showing really, Omaha's diverse ethnic backgrounds."

The Taste of Omaha will showcase not only food, but there will be live entertainment daily with activities on two Riverfront Parks, the Heartland of America Park and Lewis & Clark Landing. There will be six stages throughout the festival along with a fireworks show on Saturday night. The Taste runs Friday 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM and on Sunday from 11:00 AM till 8:00 PM.
