New York Man Arrested In Council Bluffs For Forgery


A New York man is behind bars in Council Bluffs after allegedly attempting to steal money from another person's bank account. 

Council Bluffs Police says officers were called to the US Bank location near Bennett and Madison Avenues on Tuesday after 39 year old Joey Whiting, of Bronx, New York, tried to obtain $7,500 from someone's account. When officers arrived, Whiting fled on foot and was arrested a few blocks away after a brief struggle. 

Police say Whiting had five fraudulent ID's on him at the time of the incident. He was arrested on charges of Forgery, Identity Theft and Assault on a Peace Officer. Whiting also has a warrant for his arrest for Forgery out of New York.
