Lincoln Woman Dies After Being Thrown Off A Moving Car

Lincoln Police say a 36 year old woman has died from her injuries following a hit and run on November 7th.

Authorities say Autumn Hernandez was attempting to stop her niece, 21 year old Kacie Alatoree, from leaving in a car she borrowed after seeing Alatoree outside of her home. Hernandez was reportedly hanging onto the hood of the vehicle when Alatoree accelerated, then swerved, causing Hernandez to fall off the hood and hit her head near 29th and M. Alatoree had reportedly borrowed the vehicle three months ago, and had been refusing to return it to Hernandez's boyfriend.

Hernandez was taken to to the hospital with a critical head injury, and was declared brain dead a day later. She was kept alive while her organs could be donated, and died on Sunday.

Alatoree was arrested on a charge of Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident. Additional charges could be filed.
