If you live in Millard and want your voice to be heard on the Millard Public Schools levy override, you need to make sure you get your ballot dropped off by 5:00 Tuesday night.
If approved, the levy override would raise property taxes in order to provide more funding to Millard Public Schools. Opponents of the override say the school board needs to make cuts, rather than raise property taxes.
Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse says no matter what vote you plan to cast, it's got to be done soon. "The ballot has to be in our possession by 5:00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday) night, postmarks do not count. So at this point, we would recommend to voters not to mail your ballot."
Kruse says ballots can be dropped off at their office, or at one of the ballot drop boxes. "We have ten drop boxes in Douglas County and all ten drop boxes are open and voters can place their ballot in any one of the ten drop boxes up until 5:00 PM tomorrow night."
Over half of the ballots sent out have still not been returned, but Kruse says they have seen quite a good response considering it is a special election. "We are over 35% returned. We're hoping to get to at least 40% and maybe beyond."
