Cause Of Mansion Fire Under Investigation

The investigation continues into an early morning fire that destroyed a $1.9, ten-thousand square foot home near 182nd and F Street.

NewsRadio 1110 KFAB has learned the home was owned by Rod Markin, a long time doctor at UNMC who lost everything in the fire.

The fire broke out around 1:00 a.m. and took a couple of hours to bring under control. Firefighters had to fight the blaze from the outside. They remained on the scene for several hours checking for hot spots and received assistance from Boys Town, Waterloo and Gretna fire departments.

The house had been for sale for the past year and no one was in it at the time.
