Salvation Army Dusting Off The Red Kettles

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas outside the American National Bank building at 90th and Dodge.  The Salvation Army invites everyone to the annual Tree of Lights Kickoff Friday at 6 p.m.

The event will feature musical entertainment by Michael Lyon & The Steve Thornburg Trio, refreshments from Paradise Bakery & Cafe, Santa and his reindeer and there will be opportunities to learn more about the Salvation Army mission.

Spokesperson Susan Eustice says, "Those bright red kettles will begin appearing this Friday in Omaha and Council Bluffs and will be out there for you to donate to until December 23rd."   Eustice says this year's goal will be announced during the tree lighting ceremony.

To make the Tree of Lights a success, volunteer bell ringers are needed.  Eustice says they need thousands of people to man the kettles and ring those bells.  Those wanting to sign up can do so by clicking here or by calling 402-898-6000.
