Convicted Murderer Receives Notice Of Drugs To Be Used In His Execution

The Nebraska Department of Corrections provided condemned killer Jose Sandoval notice of the substances to be used in his execution by lethal injection.

The notification is a formality at this point, because no execution date has been set.  The notice must be provided at least 60 days prior to the Attorney General's request to the Nebraska Supreme Court for an execution warrant.

Sandoval was sentenced to death for the 2002 Norfolk bank robbery that resulted in five deaths.

The notice states that execution will be carried out by an IV mixture of Diazepam, Fentanyl Citrate, Cisatracurium Besylate and Potassium Chloride.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the Nebraska ACLU states that this combination of drugs is experimental and has never been used to execute a prisoner before.
