The City of Papillion is moving forward with plans to build a new community center and fieldhouse, located near 96th and Lincoln Road.
The facility will be the new home of the Papillion Recreation Department and a space that will house year-round recreational activities and events for residents of all ages.
The City Council approved the $48 million project on Tuesday night. The community center will include four gymnasiums, an acquatics area and a 200 meter walking track, along with a youth and senior center, meeting space and four multi-purpose classrooms.
The field house will feature a synthetic turf soccer field and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018. The community center is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2019. Bonds and a half cent city sales tax increase approved by voters in 2016 will pay for the buildings.
