Omaha Daycare Owner Changes Plea In Child Abuse Case

A former Omaha daycare owner changed her plea on Tuesday from Not Guilty to No Contest in her child abuse case.

In a video taken by an employee from March of 2017, Lynn Rowe can be seen hitting a four year old child. Rowe owned and operated Lynn's Learning Center near 112th and Spring. The child's mother reported Rowe to police after the employee sent her the video.

Investigators reviewed the video and reported that while Rowe and the child were sitting at a table, the daycare provider became upset and hit the child "on the head a few times." Rowe can also be heard on the video saying, "Quit messing with your hair," and then hits the girl's arm. Police reported that when the child told Rowe that she hurt her, Rowe responded by saying, "Good, I hope it hurt."

Rowe's plea change will be treated as a guilty plea by the judge and she faces up to three years in prison when sentenced in January.
