If you like ice skating, Midtown Crossing is teaming up with the Salvation Army to offer a unique experience in Omaha.
Midtown Crossing's Molly Skold says a rooftop ice skating rink will be ready for the holidays at Midtown Crossing. "Rooftop skating rinks seem to be the next big thing and we're excited to bring something pretty innovative to Omaha."
Admission to the 60 by 80 foot rooftop rink be $5, which includes skate rental, with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army. The rink will also feature fire pits and food vendors.
This isn't just any normal ice rink Skold says. The rink will be on the top floor of the parking garage next to Wohlner's Grocery and will have ice that never melts. "It's a synthetic ice and it's conducive to all weather climates and makes excellent skating."
Skold says the rink is a way to bring the family out for a good time, but also gives citizens a way to give back to their community. "Skaters can come and have a great time and skate and give back to our community and the country that we live in."
The rink is slated to open on Saturday December 2nd and will stay open through February.
