Omaha Police Get Visit From 'The Donut Boy'

Nine year old Tyler Carach of Florida has become known as the 'Donut Boy' for his efforts to thank officers all over the country for their service.

On Wednesday morning Carach stopped by Omaha's southwest precinct in Millard to deliver hundreds of donuts and to personally thank officers from all over the metro area.

He has visited two dozen states since last August and his goal is to get to every state at least once. “In August 2016, I was in a local store when I saw four deputies and asked to use my own money to purchase them their favorite treat...donuts.   After hearing my mom explain why they were so happy about the "snack", I decided that I wanted to thank every cop in America and give them each their favorite treat."

Tyler says he appreciates that officers risk their lives every day to protect complete strangers.  He shook hands with officers Wednesday and handed them a card that says "Please stay safe and keep up the great job."

Tyler's mom Sheena says her son wants to be a police officer when he grows up.  Tyler's campaign is called “I DONUT need a reason to THANK a cop.” He has delivered nearly 37,000 donuts to about 25 states.  After his visit to Omaha on Wednesday, Tyler will head to South Dakota.

The officers who attended today's event made Tyler's visit extra special.  He will turn ten years old in a few days and the officers gave him several gifts, including a scooter, and a birthday cake.
