NYC Terror Suspect Cited In Nebraska For Traffic Violations

The suspect in a deadly attack on Tuesday in New York City has been ticketed for traffic violations in Nebraska as recent as this year.

Court records show that 29 year old Sayfullo Saipov, a commercial truck driver, was cited four times between 2011 and 2017. Twice in 2011, once in October and again in December, he was ticketed by the Nebraska State Patrol in Cass County.

In March of 2014, Saipov was cited in North Platte for failure to stop his truck at an I-80 weigh station. Then in February of 2017 he was ticketed again in Cass County for operating an overweight vehicle on I-80.

On all four occurrences, Saipov paid the fines.

New York City officials says Saipov mowed down twenty people on a popular bike path in Manhattan, killing eight. They say he is originally from Uzbekistan and legally came to the United States in 2010.

A note inside the truck he rented to carry out his attack pledged an allegiance to the terrorist group ISIS.
