A student from Lincoln's Norris School District remained in critical condition Thursday morning after a five-vehicle chain reaction traffic accident Wednesday. Sixteen people were involved in the chain reaction crash, including 14 from the Norris School District.
Three of the drivers were Norris students and they suffered injuries in the crash, which happened around 3:45 p.m. on South 68th Street. Investigators say it happened as traffic began to slow for an earlier accident on South 68th. The other two vehicles involved were driven by adults who had picked up students.
The three students who were driving were taken to the hospital for treatment. One of them was air-lifted to Bryan Health Center West Campus with life threatening injuries. The other two were less seriously injured.
The investigation is ongoing but at the present time no citations have been issued.
