La Vista Police say it could take several weeks before the know exactly what caused a cement truck to tip over and crush a car at 120th and Giles, killing both men inside.
The truck driver is identified as 20 year old Austin Holloway of Fremont. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say Michael Dearden and Phillip Hertel, both 23, were in a car stopped at the intersection when the truck driven eastbound on Giles by Holloway turned southbound and overturned onto the car and crushed it.
The truck involved belonged to Consolidated Concrete and the company put out this statement on Thursday: “We at Consolidated Concrete are currently investigating the accident which occurred yesterday near 120th & Giles Road. While we do not know any details, our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.”
La Vista Police say any decision on possible charges and the cause of the crash, along with any conclusions from the investigation, will take several weeks.
