La Vista Police have identified the two men killed Wednesday afternoon when a concrete truck crushed their car at 120th and Giles.
Police Chief Bob Lausten says Michael Dearden and Phillip Hertel, both 23, were killed around 12:30 when the fully loaded truck was turning right off of Giles to head south when it tipped over on top of the car that was stopped, waiting to make a turn onto Giles.
Lausten said the cause of why the concrete truck rolled remains under investigation. "Our hearts go out to the victims and their families," he said.
The driver of the concrete truck suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The truck was finally upright at around 2 p.m.
