Residents of an Omaha neighborhood are in shock after someone shot and seriously wounded a dog for no apparent reason.
It happened near 25th and Marcy around 9:15 Sunday morning. "It's a seven month old pointer-mix puppy. It appears it's a random crime and we're very concerned why anyone would want to shoot it," says Mark Langan with the Nebraska Humane Society.
Langan says there is no indication Buster was being aggressive or barking or bothering anybody. "For some reason someone decided to shoot it. Very serious bullet wound to the dog and we're hoping it's going to make it." Langan says their veterinarians are doing all they can to save Buster.
Langan says witnesses said a man wearing all black was walking in the area after they heard the shots. he is described as a black male between 30 and 40 years old, 6' 1" and weighing 220 pounds. He was also reportedly wearing glasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 402-444-7867. The Nebraska Humane Society is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
