Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis confirms a man who was the subject of a massive search Friday morning is the suspect in a rape and robbery late Wednesday night at a home near 156th and Giles.
The Nebraska State Patrol, Papillion Police, La Vista Police, Bellevue Police and Sarpy County Sheriff’s deputies teamed-up to conduct the search early Friday morning between 144th and 156th and Chandler to Giles after receiving a report of an armed party in the area.
According to the Sheriff Davis, a deputy spotted the man around 4:00 a.m. and he took off running when the deputy tried to talk to him. He is described as a white male in his 40's or 50's wearing a hat and a windbreaker.
Investigators located a car in an apartment complex that they believe is connected to the case but Davis says the suspect doesn't live there. The car was towed away.
In the incident on Wednesday, a man armed with a gun got into a home near 156th and Giles where he raped and robbed a woman, who was alone at the time.
People living in the area were being told to lock their doors and to not walk around alone.
