Residents in Millard can thank high wages, a strong job market and millennials for landing the 68144 zip code on Realtor.com's 'Hottest Zip Codes in America' list.
The list compiles data about housing market conditions, including the length of time homes take to sell and how often listings are viewed.
Millard ranked 16th on the list and Javier Vivas with Realtor.com says there are a number of reasons the Sarpy County community ranked so high. "When it came to this particular area, we found that homes are selling faster than the rest of the country, but there is also a lineup of buyers waiting for those homes to come onto the market."
Vivas says the average length of time it takes a Millard home to sell is about 26 days, more than 40 days faster than the rets of the country. "They have amazing schools, they have good accessibility. They're not too far out from the core areas, the urban areas, and so when you combine all of these elements together you really have this hot bed for housing."
Vivas also credits first time home buyers, usually millennials looking for a good deal, with pushing Millard up on the list. "Homes in the area are actually 20% cheaper than the rest of the country and median income is actually 14% higher than the rest of the country. So there's definitely the affordability factor."
Other zip codes making the list span the U.S. including: Littleton, Colorado; Livonia, Michigan; Watauga, Texas and Medford, Massachusetts.
