Woman Arrested After Hitting Construction Worker With Car

An Omaha construction working is fighting for his life after being hit by a suspected drunk driver in Lincoln Wednesday afternoon.

Lincoln Police say 78 year old Janet Lubben was arrested after hitting 34 year old Gromyko Roby while he was working on a median near 31st and Superior streets around 3:00.

Authorities say Lubben jumped a median, returned to the roadway, and jumped the median again, striking Roby and sending him ten feet through the air. They say Lubben then left the scene and was found by witnesses unconscious behind the wheel a few blocks away.

Lubben was reportedly uncooperative and refused to take a breath test. She was taken to a Lincoln hospital for examination, then turned over to the Lincoln Police. Lubben was booked on charges of DUI-Causing Serious Bodily Injury, DUI-With Refusal and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident.

Roby's injures are considered life-threatening.
