The city of Papillion has announced plans to annex area east and west of the current city limits. The plan includes the Cottonwood SID to the east and the Facebook and Travelers Data Centers and Omaha National Cemetary to the south and west.
City spokesman Trenton Albers tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB if the package is approved this month it will go into effect November 12. It would bring about 750 people into the city limits, pushing the population past 20-thousand. It would extend the city limits east to about 66th and Cornhusker and south and west to near Highway 50 and Capehart.
The annexation package will go before the Planning Commission on Oct. 25 and before the City Council on Oct. 26, 27 and 28.
Albers says the cost of annexing residential areas to the east will be offset by the increased taxes from the data centers in the west.
