An Omaha man is facing several charges after a violent confrontation with Omaha Police.   Police say three officers were assaulted as they were called to investigate a domestic violence incident around 12:20 Sunday morning at 5136 Northwest Radial Highway.

When the officers arrived they found the victim and the suspect. The victim told them she'd been sleeping on a couch when Rodriguez began punching and kicking her and then dragged her outside and continued the assault.

As police tried to talk to Rodriguez they say he took off northbound to a nearby gas station. They caught up with him there and put him in a cruiser while awaiting the arrival of medics to tend to the injuries of both the Rodriguez and the victim.

Police say that Rodriguez then went into convulsions in the cruiser. Officers took him out of the vehicle. The ambulance arrived and placed him inside. Police say Rodriguez became highly combative, kicking officers. The fight with officers and paramedics continued during transport to the hospital.

Police say he tried to grab an officer's gun and tried to bite a paramedic.  Once at the hospital it took ten people to restrain Rodriguez  and he was eventually admitted.

When his treatment ends, Rodriguez will be booked for Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Assault, Criminal Trespassing, three counts of Assault on an Officer and Attempted Felony Assault on a Health Care Worker.
