OPS Administrators Duct Taped To Wall As Reward For Students

Standing Bear Elementary students' hard work paid off as they got to duct tape their Principal and Vice Principal to a gym wall on Friday.

Principal Lynette Keyes says students exceed a fundraising goal during the school's Boosterthon Fun Run. "They received pledges for laps that they ran, and most students ran 30 plus laps and for every lap they completed they received money to go towards the school. We had a goal of raising $25,000 to purchase additional iPads and additional playground equipment and we not only met our goal, we exceeded it and made closer to $26,000."

In fact, the students actually raised $26,280, and Keyes says the duct tape promise helped motivate the students.  "We told them that they could duct tape us to the wall when we kicked off the fundraiser, so they knew in advance and I think that motivated them a little bit more."

Keyes wasn't on that wall alone though, Vice Principal Yano Jones also sacrificed himself for the cause.
