Family, Friends Remember Waverly Teen

Family and friends of 15 year old Alexandra Linscott of Waverly are shocked and trying to deal with the fact that her life ended far too soon.

Linscott, a sophomore at Waverly High School, was killed in a head on crash on Highway 50 near Springfield Wednesday night.    Her friends told 6 News she liked to be called "Alex."  Her grandparents say she was "a great kid" who "loved to dance."

One of her friends says "She wanted to be a professional ballerina." Linscott attended a prestigious dance school in New York City over the summer.  "It was the best summer of her life," her friend told 6 News.

Linscott was returning home from her dance studio with her mother when the crash happened. Her mother Elisa remains in critical condition at the hospital.   Alexandra was a student leader at Waverly High, where she was part of the Future Business Leaders of America and a saxophone player in the marching band.

Her friend said, "She had a determination to succeed and be everyone's friend. Alex was incredible."  Investigators believe the 22 year old Omaha woman driving the other car may have been drinking.  The Sarpy County Attorney's Office says once Paige Seaton is released from the hospital she will be arrested.

"There is a lot of evidence alcohol was behind this crash,” says Deputy Sarpy County Attorney Ben Perlman.  “I will wait to see what the investigation tells us but it appears to be a major factor in this crash."

Court records show Seaton is currently on probation after being pulled over in April for DUI near her Omaha home. In the previous DUI case, Seaton was almost twice the legal limit. Her license was revoked for 60 days and she was put on probation for 9 months.
